About the position

The Caregiver at WellQuest Living is responsible for providing personal assistance and routine daily care to residents, ensuring their independence and enhancing their quality of life. This role involves working closely with residents in an Assisted Living or Memory Care environment, following the Resident Care Profile and directives from the Executive Director and Health Services Director. The caregiver's duties include assisting residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, and personal hygiene, as well as providing support during mealtimes and recreational activities. The caregiver must respond promptly to residents' needs while maintaining their dignity and confidentiality, and assist in creating a safe and engaging environment for all residents. In addition to personal care, the caregiver is expected to communicate any changes in residents' conditions to supervisors, assist with medication administration when necessary, and participate in community activities. The role requires a compassionate approach, as caregivers often work with cognitively impaired individuals, necessitating patience and understanding. Caregivers are also responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment, completing necessary documentation, and attending training sessions to stay updated on best practices in resident care. This position is vital in fostering a supportive community atmosphere and ensuring that residents feel valued and cared for.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
  • Respond promptly to residents' needs while maintaining their dignity and confidentiality.
  • Assist residents at mealtime, including serving meals and clearing tables.
  • Encourage residents to participate in daily activities and maintain a safe environment.
  • Communicate any observed changes in residents' conditions to a supervisor immediately.
  • Assist Activities Department staff in carrying out planned activities.
  • Ensure resident care sign-off sheets are completed by the end of each shift.
  • Assist new residents in familiarizing themselves with their surroundings.
  • Use Universal Precautions and follow established safety policies.
  • Attend scheduled in-service classes and mandatory staff meetings.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of experience in a health care environment preferred.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with cognitively impaired individuals.
  • First aid training certification.
