About the position

The NSIP Masters Intern position at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) focuses on engaging students in research and development efforts critical to national security, particularly in the fields of nuclear, chemistry, and biological technologies. Interns will work on challenging problems related to the prevention and countering of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, contributing to the laboratory's mission of safeguarding national security through innovative research and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in research and development projects related to national security, energy, and science.
  • Engage in applied radiation detection and measurement of radiological signatures.
  • Conduct analytical chemistry and instrumentation research for trace element and radionuclide detection.
  • Develop integrated experimental and data analytics techniques for chemical and biological signatures.
  • Research nuclear materials, processes, and technologies in the Nuclear Material Processing Group.
  • Contribute to nuclear engineering projects, including the design and analysis of advanced nuclear reactors.
  • Support radiochemistry research for environmental assessment and treaty verification.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a Master's program at an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.3 required.
