About the position

The NSIP Masters Intern position at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) offers students the opportunity to engage in critical research and development in national security, energy, and science. Interns will work on projects related to nuclear, chemistry, and biological technologies, contributing to the prevention and countering of terrorism and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. The internship is designed for students enrolled in a Master's program and will involve hands-on experience in various focus areas, including applied radiation detection, analytical chemistry, and nuclear engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in research and development projects related to national security, energy, and science.
  • Engage in applied radiation detection and measurement of radiological signatures.
  • Conduct fundamental and applied research in analytical chemistry and instrumentation.
  • Develop integrated experimental and data analytics techniques for chemical and biological signatures.
  • Research and analyze nuclear materials and processes in the Nuclear Material Processing Group.
  • Contribute to the design and analysis of advanced nuclear reactors and systems.
  • Support national security clients through radiochemistry research and development.

Requirements

  • Must be matriculated/enrolled in a Master's program at an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.3 is required.
