About the position

The NSIP Masters Intern position at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) focuses on engaging students in research and development critical to national security, particularly in the fields of nuclear, chemistry, and biological technologies. Interns will work on challenging problems related to the prevention and countering of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. The role offers opportunities to apply cutting-edge research in various focus areas, including applied radiation detection, analytical chemistry, nuclear engineering, and more, contributing to the safety and security of the nation.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in research and development projects related to national security, energy, and science.
  • Engage in applied radiation detection and measurement of radiological signatures.
  • Conduct fundamental and applied research in analytical chemistry and instrumentation.
  • Develop integrated experimental and data analytics techniques for threat detection.
  • Research and analyze nuclear materials and processes.
  • Contribute to the design and development of advanced nuclear reactors and systems.
  • Support environmental assessment and remediation efforts.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a Master's program at an accredited college or university.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.3 required.
