About the position

The NSIP PhD Intern position at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) focuses on engaging highly qualified PhD students in research and development efforts aimed at enhancing national security. Interns will work on critical problems related to nuclear, chemical, and biological technologies, contributing to the prevention and countering of terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. The role offers opportunities in various specialized areas, including applied radiation detection, analytical chemistry, and nuclear engineering, with positions available in Richland, WA, Seattle, WA, or remotely based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research and development in national security, energy, and science.
• Engage in projects related to chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosives measurement.
• Participate in one of seven focus areas including Applied Radiation Detection and Nuclear Engineering.
• Collaborate with teams to develop solutions for threat detection challenges.
• Contribute to the advancement of technologies and systems that safeguard national security.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a PhD program at an accredited college.
• Minimum GPA of 3.3.
