About the position

The NSIP Undergraduate Tech Intern position at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) focuses on providing undergraduate students with hands-on experience in national security, energy, and scientific research. Interns will engage in research and development activities aimed at preventing and countering terrorism and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, specifically in the fields of nuclear, chemistry, and biological technologies. The internship offers opportunities to work in various focus areas, including applied radiation detection, analytical chemistry, and nuclear engineering, contributing to the lab's mission of enhancing national security.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in research and development projects related to national security, energy, and science.
  • Engage in hands-on work in one of seven focus areas: Applied Radiation Detection, Analytical Chemistry & Instrumentation, Chemical and Biological Signatures, Nuclear Material Processing, Nuclear Engineering, Radiochemistry, and Nuclear Signatures.
  • Collaborate with researchers and contribute to the development of technologies and methodologies for threat detection and prevention.
  • Analyze data and assist in the development of experimental techniques and instrumentation.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma/GED or higher.
  • Must be a degree-seeking undergraduate student enrolled at an accredited college or university.
  • Must be taking at least 6 credit hours and have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.30.
