About the position

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist at RWJBarnabas Health plays a crucial role in assisting nuclear physicians with special imaging procedures. This full-time position requires adherence to hospital standards and regulatory guidelines while ensuring patient comfort and accurate test results. The technologist will perform various tasks including calibrating equipment, explaining procedures to patients, and managing radioactive materials safely.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the nuclear physician with the implementation of special imaging procedures.
  • Calibrate the dose calibrator and perform QC procedures on gamma cameras per departmental protocols.
  • Explain the procedure to the patient clearly, including wait times, and perform the procedure ensuring maximum comfort to the patient.
  • Identify patients per hospital SOP before starting any procedure.
  • Perform all hot lab related functions such as receiving, using, and discarding of Radio-pharmaceuticals following vendor, departmental, and DEP rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
  • Must possess a current NJ State license.
  • ARRT and/or NMTCB certification required.
  • BLS certification required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two years hospital experience as a staff technologist preferred.
  • NMTCB Fusion Certification or ARRT R, CT certification preferred.
