About the position

Mercy Health is seeking a dedicated nursing professional to deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process. The role involves data collection and assessment, identifying and prioritizing patient problems and needs, and evaluating the outcomes of nursing care. The nurse will coordinate, provide, and direct patient teaching activities while collaborating with health team members to ensure comprehensive care delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Analyze assessment data and create a plan of care.
  • Implement treatment plans and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
  • Administer medications safely in accordance with state practice and organizational policies.
  • Serve as the point of contact for patient care coordination throughout hospital departments.
  • Act as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Incorporate the professional practice model into care delivery.

Requirements

  • Valid nursing license from the state of practice (required).
  • Associate of Nursing or Diploma in Nursing (required).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH).

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred).
