About the position

St. Luke's University Health Network is seeking a dedicated Nutrition Services Aide to join our team in Quakertown, PA. This full-time position is integral to our foodservice department, where the primary responsibility is to ensure that patients receive their meals in a timely and efficient manner. The Nutrition Services Aide will perform a variety of tasks that include the delivery and retrieval of patient trays, stocking supplies in various areas of the hospital, operating a Point of Sale (POS) system, portioning food, and maintaining cleanliness in the foodservice area. This role is essential in supporting our mission of providing excellent care to our patients, and it requires a compassionate and service-oriented individual. In this position, the Nutrition Services Aide will prepare, set, and serve food as directed, ensuring that all meals are served at the proper temperatures and portion sizes. The aide will also assist in minor food preparation and portioning tasks, prepare snacks and breaks, and help with tray assembly. Delivering trays to patients will be done in accordance with established procedures, utilizing two patient identifiers to ensure safety and accuracy. The aide will check trays for compliance with nutrition orders and assist patients as needed, ensuring a positive dining experience. The role also involves picking up soiled trays and returning them to the kitchen for proper cleaning and storage, as well as maintaining food quality and temperature throughout the service process. The Nutrition Services Aide will be expected to work collaboratively with other team members to ensure that all foodservice operations run smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall satisfaction of our patients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, sets, and serves all food as directed ensuring proper temperatures and portion sizes.
  • Performs minor food preparation and portioning tasks in accordance with departmental policy.
  • Prepares and gathers all items needed for snacks and breaks and ensures they are delivered to the proper areas.
  • Helps in tray assembly.
  • Delivers trays to patients in accordance with established facility and departmental procedures.
  • Utilizes established two patient identifiers to ensure patient safety.
  • Double checks tray for accuracy and nutrition order compliance prior to delivery.
  • Ensures the tray is positioned properly for the patient; assists the patient with the opening of any tray elements; and checks with patient for the need of any additional or missing items.
  • Picks up soiled trays in a timely manner and returns trays to kitchen for proper cleaning and storage.
  • Ensures and maintains proper food quality and temperature.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency preferred.
  • Customer service and/or food service experience preferred, but not necessary.

Nice-to-haves

  • On job training will be provided.
