About the position

As an NX CAD/CAM Programmer, you will be responsible for analyzing part prints, manufacturing operation sheets, and NX part models to develop and modify Numerical Control (NC) programs for various machine tools, including 2, 3, 4, and 5 axis configurations. Your role will involve utilizing the NX CAD/CAM graphical system along with Turbosoft and airfoil programming software to create and refine these programs. You will provide technical expertise to machining and development teams, addressing potential machining challenges and their effects on surface properties. In addition to program development, you will independently refine NC programs, demonstrating your proficiency and initiative in optimizing these programs for efficiency. You will also determine the optimal feeds, speeds, and tool selections for a variety of milling applications. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will work closely with machine operators and Manufacturing Engineers to enhance machining processes and improve machine tool capabilities. This position requires a strong background in engineering and manufacturing, with a focus on programming and technical expertise in CAD/CAM systems. You will be expected to leverage your experience to contribute to the continuous improvement of machining operations and support the overall goals of the manufacturing team.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze part prints, manufacturing operation sheets, and NX part models to develop and modify Numerical Control (NC) programs for various machine tools.
  • Utilize NX CAD/CAM graphical system and Turbosoft + airfoil programming software for program development.
  • Provide machining and development teams with expertise on potential machining challenges and their impact on surface properties.
  • Independently develop and refine NC programs, showcasing proficiency and initiative in program optimization.
  • Determine optimal feeds, speeds, and tool selection for a range of milling applications.
  • Collaborate with machine operators and Manufacturing Engineers to optimize machining processes and enhance machine tool capabilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years' experience in engineering, manufacturing, technical, or related industrial fields; or a Master's degree with a minimum of 5 years' experience in similar roles.
  • 5 or more years of experience in programming 2 - 5 axis machine tools using Unigraphics and Vericut CAD/CAM software systems.
  • Proficiency in CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) languages, machining techniques, and machine tool capabilities for effective program design.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles, including experience with Kaizen events or involvement in continuous improvement programs (ACE, 6S, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Gas turbine engine.
  • CAD/CAM experience of 6 years (Preferred).
  • CNC programming experience of 5 years (Preferred).
  • Experience with 2 - 5 axis machine tools for 4 years (Preferred).
  • Experience with NX for 4 years (Preferred).
  • Lean manufacturing experience of 6 years (Preferred).
  • Experience with 6S for 4 years (Preferred).
