The OB/GYN Lead Sonographer at The Ohio State University plays a crucial role in the Women's Imaging department, performing a variety of ultrasound examinations including obstetrical, gynecological, and fetal echocardiogram procedures. This position is responsible for coordinating daily workflow and assignments, ensuring efficient patient flow, and providing essential support to the operation of the department. The Lead Sonographer must be certified by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in the specialty of OB/GYN and hold additional certifications in Nuchal Translucency and Nasal Bone from recognized foundations. This role not only involves performing high-risk sonography but also includes assisting the Imaging Manager in evaluating the performance of sonographers and orienting new staff members to the Imaging Center. In the absence of the Imaging Manager, the Lead Sonographer may take on additional responsibilities to ensure the continuity of operations within the department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ultrasound, having graduated from an accredited ultrasound school and possessing registry eligibility or certification by the ARDMS in OB/GYN. Significant prior experience in ultrasound is essential, along with a commitment to maintaining certification and meeting ongoing education requirements. The Lead Sonographer must demonstrate a high level of competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills necessary for fulfilling the essential functions of the job. This position is based at the Outpatient Care Upper Arlington location and operates on a regular schedule of 40 hours per week during the first shift. Candidates should be prepared for a background check and may be required to undergo a drug screening or physical examination as part of the hiring process.
