About the position

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a passionate and dynamic Public Health Administrator to develop and lead our Maternal and Child Health (MCH) surveillance teams! In this pivotal supervisory role, you will guide a team of seven as they conduct the Child and Maternal Death Review, the Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS), and the Home Visiting Performance Management System (N-MIECHV) Teams. In addition, you will provide leadership to the MCH programs and serve as a core member of the Maternal and Child Health Block Grant, as they seek to make data informed decisions. You will play a crucial part in ensuring robust MCH epidemiological functions by managing data systems, conducting insightful analyses, and vital reporting, all while fostering workforce development. As a collaborative leader, you will identify capacity gaps, strategize budgets, and coordinate resources to meet the evolving data needs of our MCH initiatives and work to develop and support a team of public health professionals. Responsibilities

  • Develop and support a team of public health professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in public administration, social work, human development, public health, behavioral science, law, finance, human resources or other program-related field AND two years of experience in a field related to the assigned program area including supervisory experience.
  • OR a Master's degree in any of the above-mentioned fields.
  • Experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Supervisory experience a must - 2 years preferred.
  • Master's degree in public health, biostatistics, or related area, and/or a minimum of 5 years work experience in public health, particularly in the area of maternal and child health.
  • Training and/or experience in using statistical software, such as SAS or STATA.
