About the position

The Offshore Fitter is responsible for performing job functions related to iron fabrication and steel structures according to contract specifications and quality assurance standards. This role involves interpreting engineering drawings, measuring and cutting materials, and ensuring compliance with safety and structural integrity requirements.

Responsibilities

• Study engineering drawings to determine materials requirements and task sequences.
• Read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Perform mathematical calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and angles.
• Measure, cut, fit, and install structural/pipe plate, pipe material, beams, and other components per blueprint and job specifications.
• Locate and mark workpieces from drawings, checking for material thickness and welding shrinkage.
• Straighten warped or bent parts using sledges, hand torches, and straightening procedures.
• Follow fitting procedures for fabricating offshore jackets, decks, and production facilities.
• Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts using cutting torches and hand tools.
• Lay out and install piping, equipment, and other mechanical systems in compliance with construction drawings.
• Inspect work sites for obstructions that could cause structural weakness.
• Verify conformance of workpieces to specifications using squares and measuring tapes.

Requirements

• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
• Ability to pass a background check.
• Ability to pass a written and practical pipefitter and/or structural fitter test.
• Valid TWIC card.
• 2+ years experience in offshore fitting.
• High school diploma or GED.
