About the position

The Operating Room Nurse plays a critical role in providing comprehensive care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. This position involves collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other medical professionals to ensure optimal patient care and a well-prepared operating room environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients and review their medical history to prepare them for surgery, ensuring informed consent and providing emotional support.
  • Maintain a sterile environment in the operating room and assist surgeons by passing instruments, controlling bleeding, and monitoring patient vitals during procedures.
  • Assist in the patient's transition from surgery to recovery, monitoring their condition and communicating with the healthcare team regarding any complications or next steps in care.
  • Ensure surgical tools and equipment are properly sterilized, maintained, and ready for use.
  • Keep accurate records of patient care, surgical procedures, medications administered, and any observations related to the surgery.
  • Adhere to all health and safety standards, maintaining knowledge of updated surgical procedures and techniques.

Requirements

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Experience in an Operating Room (OR) setting.
  • Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience administering injections.
  • Proficiency in airway management techniques.
  • Familiarity with medical imaging technologies.
  • Previous experience in ICU, urgent care, emergency medicine, or trauma medicine is preferred.
  • Knowledge of sonography is a plus.

Benefits

  • Competitive hourly pay ranging from $47.09 to $52.24.
  • Full-time employment with expected hours of 40 - 50 per week.
