About the position

The Operations Controller at ONEOK is responsible for monitoring, adjusting, and controlling the flow of gas or natural gas liquids through the pipeline system. This role ensures safe, reliable, compliant, and efficient operations across various systems including distribution, transmission, gathering, storage, and processing. The position requires the use of computer systems and SCADA displays to manage operational pressures and flow, while also addressing any communication or quality issues that may arise.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and control the flow of natural gas or gas liquids through the pipeline system.
• Utilize computers and SCADA digital displays to determine operating pressures and direct flow.
• Determine load requirements using company-approved forecasting models and analyze current conditions.
• Identify and resolve communication problems affecting pipeline operations.
• Monitor system gas or liquid quality and respond to changes appropriately.
• Calculate and verify receipts, deliveries, storage injections, and pipeline system load requirements.
• Compile and prepare operational information including flow starts/stops and field personnel call-outs.
• Communicate operational information to field personnel and other stakeholders.
• Utilize the ONEOK Communication System for emergency and non-emergency communications.
• Train employees in system operations and safety procedures.

Requirements

• Experience with pipeline control functions and applicable computer programs.
• Knowledge of natural gas or natural gas liquid pipeline operations.
• Experience monitoring pressures, volumes, and control points.
• Familiarity with SCADA systems and basic programming/computer applications.
• Ability to compile and prepare reports and logs effectively.
• Strong communication skills for advising and training personnel.

• Experience with weather forecasting related to pipeline operations.
• Knowledge of company and governmental operating/safety procedures.
