About the position

As an experienced Technician at Penske, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of vehicles, ensuring they are safe and reliable for our customers. Your responsibilities will include performing preventative maintenance and repairs of all levels on the newest and best-maintained fleet in the industry. You will be recognized as a master technician, setting an example for others and informally mentoring less experienced team members while also learning from your manager. This position allows you to work independently on major and minor repairs, conduct road tests to diagnose issues, and complete maintenance tasks efficiently. In this role, you will be expected to perform preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with minimal supervision, ensuring that all vehicles are maintained to the highest safety standards. You will also be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing major components such as engines, transmissions, and differentials, which may include replacing complete assemblies and various fuel system components. Keeping your work area clean and safe is essential, as is utilizing Penske's tools and technologies to log, research, and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics. Responsibilities

  • Making sure vehicles are maintained and safe for our customers
  • Doing preventive maintenance services on truck and trailer equipment with little or no supervision and in a timely manner
  • Repairing and troubleshooting major components such as engines, transmissions and differentials, including replacing complete assemblies, turbochargers, fuel system components, etc.
  • Keeping your work area clean and safe
  • Using Penske's tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic vehicle diagnostics
  • Learning new skills through Penske's technician training
  • Working on other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Requirements

  • 6 years of practical experience with truck and tractor-trailer maintenance
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred
  • Specialized training and experience in the diagnosis/troubleshooting of major components (engines, transmissions, differentials), OEM training courses, ASE Certification, and 608/609 certifications (preferred)
  • Experienced using all tools of the trade (including welding equipment, diagnostic equipment, and hand and power tools)
  • Valid driver's license required, CDL preferred
  • The ability to solve problems
  • Excellent customer service skills and communication skills
  • The ability to work well as part of a team
  • Willing to work in non-climate-controlled conditions
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to understand and comply with specific instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information established by Penske management
  • Ability to perform all work adhering to DOT, OSHA, and all Penske safety and maintenance policies
