About the position

The Operations Equipment Specialist at Evonik is responsible for managing and maintaining a diverse fleet of transportation equipment, including trailers, tank cars, and ISO containers. This role involves overseeing routine maintenance, ensuring compliance with regulations, and managing costs associated with equipment operations. The specialist will also respond to transportation-related emergencies and provide technical guidance as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, initiate, organize, and manage routine maintenance of Evonik owned and leased equipment in the field, customer site, and terminals.
  • Keep documentation for both preventative/predictive inspections to ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
  • Manage AO transportation equipment to support production schedules, sales forecasts, inventories, and customer requirements.
  • Review, track against budget and forecast, determine irregular trends, and approve invoices when necessary.
  • Maintain spare part list and documentation for standard, complex, and non-standard technical and transportation equipment.
  • Manage equipment inspections dates in Fleet Management platform.
  • Select, supervise, and evaluate outside contractors, vendors, and third-party terminals.
  • Provide accurate material, labor, and engineering estimates for all equipment projects.
  • Implement and oversee projects to ensure timely completion and within project planned costs.
  • Respond to transportation-related emergency issues and provide technical guidance to incident commanders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
  • 5-7 years similar work experience
  • Chemical industry experience strongly preferred
  • Utilize best in class practice and establish quality and quantity measures for equipment modifications
  • Work towards changing regulations concerning transport equipment
  • Establish KPIs for AO's bulk equipment to achieve zero customer complaints
  • Develop product-handling equipment that keeps pace with AO's general business direction
  • Implement corrective action plans to reverse negative high cost patterns
  • Assure that the Transport Equipment remains operational and positioned to handle all shipments properly
  • Capable of responding to Emergency Response Incidents in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Develop long-term strategy for equipment maintenance and periodic inspections
