About the position

The Operations Equipment Specialist at Evonik is responsible for managing and maintaining a diverse fleet of transportation equipment, including trailers, tank cars, and ISO containers. This role involves scheduling maintenance, ensuring compliance with regulations, and managing costs while supporting production and customer requirements. The position is based at the Bayport, TX facility and requires a proactive approach to equipment management and emergency response.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance planning and management for Evonik owned and leased equipment.
• Manage transportation equipment to support production schedules and customer requirements.
• Review and track budget forecasts, approving invoices as necessary.
• Create and manage projects through completion, including cost analysis for capital requests.
• Maintain documentation for spare parts and ensure equipment conforms to specifications.
• Order parts for equipment repairs and manage inspection dates in the Fleet Management platform.
• Select and supervise outside contractors and vendors for equipment projects.
• Provide accurate estimates for material, labor, and engineering for equipment projects.
• Implement and oversee projects to ensure timely completion within budget.
• Coordinate construction and testing of systems to meet specified requirements.
• Respond to transportation-related emergency issues and provide technical guidance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
• 5-7 years of similar work experience
• Chemical industry experience strongly preferred
• Ability to establish quality and quantity measures for equipment modifications
• Experience in developing product-handling equipment aligned with business direction
• Capability to implement corrective action plans for cost management
• Knowledge of emergency response regulations and procedures
• Experience in developing long-term strategies for equipment maintenance.
