About the position
The Operations Supervisor at Penske Logistics is responsible for providing operational leadership at a single location, overseeing a team of CDL Class A drivers to ensure customer requirements are met while achieving company goals. This role involves supervising logistics operations, managing performance, and driving process improvements in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Supervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading and unloading, dispatch, and documentation control.
- Establish and sustain training for all supervisors and associates to ensure competency and alignment with customer objectives.
- Monitor attendance, productivity, and performance standards, providing coaching and counseling to associates.
- Conduct team meetings and evaluate preferred work methods to enhance productivity.
- Provide relief coverage for operational duties during associates' time off or absences.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, conducting safety observations as necessary.
- Manage associates' working hours to minimize overtime and meet productivity targets.
- Plan work assignments for effective use of fleet equipment and ensure safe operation of equipment.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Transportation Supervisor or in a leadership role supervising CDL Class A drivers.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and metrics experience.
- Proven ability to train and develop associates effectively.
- Excellent communication and engagement skills with a focus on positive coaching techniques.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Experience with driver tracking and HOS compliance.
- Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies.
