About the position
The Operations Team Leader is responsible for directing daily production activities at MLC's lime facility, ensuring operations are conducted safely and cost-effectively. This role involves supervising personnel, fostering employee relations, and continuously improving production processes while maintaining compliance with safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Direct daily production activities in the area of operation.
- Supervise salaried/hourly personnel in their daily work assignments.
- Ensure effective employee relations and provide coaching and development.
- Resolve employee issues and build a functional team environment.
- Balance responsibilities of all plant functions to achieve positive results.
- Ensure a safe work environment and perform accident investigations as required.
- Prepare safety reports for internal use and MSHA reporting.
- Perform clerical functions including payroll, operations data, and production reports.
- Prepare weekly production and employee schedules to meet budgeted staffing requirements.
- Assist in yearly capital project and budget planning.
Requirements
- High school diploma required; BS or BA in engineering or production related field preferred.
- 10+ years' experience in lime production or similar industry.
- 5+ years supervisory/management experience.
- Good working knowledge of MSHA and other regulatory requirements.
- Supervision skills including developing, mentoring, and disciplining employees.
- Ability to think ahead and prepare action plans to achieve results.
- Ability to balance safety, quality, environmental, and productivity goals in a unionized environment.
- Proficient in using electronic and manual systems for organizing and tracking plant activities.
