About the position

Berkeley Eye Center, a leader in Texas Vision Care, is seeking a Comprehensive Ophthalmologist to join our established group in Brenham, TX. This position is ideal for a board-certified or board-eligible comprehensive ophthalmologist who possesses excellent surgical skills and a strong focus on providing a positive patient experience. Our center is equipped with state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery centers where our ophthalmic surgeons perform a variety of procedures including cataract, retina, glaucoma, and ophthalmic plastic surgeries. We also provide comprehensive eye examinations for both adults and children over the age of seven, alongside a full-service optical shop at each of our Houston locations. As a fast-growing, patient-centered, and compassionate team, we are dedicated to meeting the vision care needs of families across Southeast Texas. In this role, you will be responsible for performing comprehensive eye exams, diagnosing and treating various eye conditions, and conducting surgical procedures. You will also provide pre-operative and post-operative care to patients undergoing eye surgeries and educate them on proper eye care and treatment options. Collaboration with other healthcare professionals is essential to ensure integrated patient care. Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive eye exams, including visual acuity tests, refraction, and slit-lamp examinations
  • Diagnose and treat various eye conditions and diseases, such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration
  • Perform surgical procedures, such as LASIK, cataract extraction, and corneal transplants
  • Prescribe and fit eyeglasses and contact lenses
  • Provide pre-operative and post-operative care to patients undergoing eye surgeries
  • Educate patients on proper eye care and treatment options
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide integrated patient care

Requirements

  • Medical degree from an accredited school of medicine
  • Completion of an ophthalmology residency program
  • Board certification or eligibility for board certification in ophthalmology
  • Strong knowledge of ocular anatomy, physiology, and pathology
  • Proficiency in performing vital signs measurements
  • Experience in providing patient care in various settings, including pediatrics
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Ability to conduct clinical research studies and stay updated on the latest advancements in ophthalmology
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems, such as Epic or similar platforms
