About the position

The position involves various clerical and administrative tasks to support the healthcare team and ensure smooth operations within the center.

Responsibilities

  • Answers the telephone promptly, identifies him/herself and the center, refers calls to the appropriate area, and identifies and refers to urgent calls correctly.
  • Assists in scheduling return appointments, confirming the patient's demographics, and updating the computer system as necessary.
  • Registers patients and calls patients to remind them of scheduled visits per center routine.
  • Checks in patients as they enter the center, identifying their status in the system.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel of patient's arrival and secures patient's medical record for use by Medical Assistant.
  • Monitors status of reception areas, updating appointment status by end of the day, and alerting clinical staff of unusually long patient waiting times.
  • Performs other clerical support functions such as scanning, scheduling, and documentation of appointments or referrals.
  • Reviews the schedule the day before to prepare needed registration updates.
  • Exhibits and promotes a standard of excellence in all duties and interactions.
  • Works with various programs such as dental, family planning, and behavioral health.
  • Processes billing and collections.
  • Delivers any patient care instructions.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School diploma, an AA or BS degree preferred or commensurate experience.
  • At least one year of relevant work experience, preferably in a medical setting.
  • Current CPR certification preferred.
  • Customer service experience required.
  • Computer skills required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
