About the position

ChampionX has an immediate need for an Optimization Engineer I located in Midland, Texas. This position offers a unique opportunity to join a growing company that is committed to providing competitive pay and benefits. As an Optimization Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the sales team and client end users to optimize production for both downhole and surface operations. This will involve preparing artificial lift recommendations and participating in various project activities. You will serve as a liaison between the support team and operations, effectively communicating operational questions and concerns to the Sales Engineers and Application Support Team. In this role, you will utilize advanced tools such as Lookout and XSPOC to monitor well performance data, ensuring accuracy and identifying opportunities for downtime reduction. You will be responsible for monitoring daily production inputs into electronic data capturing software, comparing input data with output data for correctness, and generating effective solutions based on the information available. Your ability to make timely decisions that are safe and ethical will be paramount in this position. The work is performed in shifts and may require working on weekends or holidays, reflecting the dynamic nature of the oil and gas industry.

Responsibilities

  • Support the sales team and client end users for optimizing production for both downhole and surface operations by preparing artificial lift recommendations.
  • Participate in project activities.
  • Serve as liaison between support team and operations to communicate operational questions and concerns to the Sales Engineers and Application Support Team.
  • Utilize Lookout and XSPOC for monitoring well performance data.
  • Ensure accuracy and address downtime reduction opportunities.
  • Monitor daily production inputs into electronic data capturing software and compare input data with output data for correctness.
  • Generate effective solutions based on available information and make timely decisions that are safe and ethical.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.)
  • Role is deemed safety-sensitive and may be subject to employer or customer drug testing.

Nice-to-haves

  • High computer application literacy (including Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn internal software systems)
  • History of working in a field that required autonomy and self-motivation
  • Prior experience that required excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Prior experience that demonstrates strong ethics, effective time management, ability to multitask, adaptability, autonomy and self-motivation
  • Working knowledge of Well Construction, Completions and Production Fundamentals.
