The position involves independently developing and implementing opto-mechanical concepts for high performance imaging and/or illumination optics. This includes tolerancing, alignment, and automated mechanisms. The candidate will technically lead and/or execute engineering projects and spearhead research and development of new technologies as appropriate. Responsibilities also include problem identification and troubleshooting a wide range of significantly complex engineering problems, specifying or performing significantly complex engineering analysis, and interfacing with internal and external customers regarding complex engineering issues to address High Value Problems (HVP) for a range of products. The role requires generating product specifications, defining, coordinating, performing, and documenting engineering tests, and specifying the development, design, or modification of engineering layouts/schematics and/or detailed drawings/specifications of significantly complex scope. Additionally, the candidate will specify and review engineering documentation and engineering processes.

  • Develop and implement opto-mechanical concepts for high performance imaging and/or illumination optics.
  • Lead and execute engineering projects and spearhead R&D of new technologies.

  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or related fields.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the mechanical design field.
  • Proficient in opto-mechanical, precision mechanical, and mechanism design.
  • Familiar with high precision optical design implementations.
  • Experienced with 3D CAD such as Solidworks or Inventor.
  • Knowledge of FEA for static and dynamic analysis and CFD for flow analysis.
