The OR Scheduling/Billing Coordinator at Tufts Medicine is responsible for managing scheduling and revenue cycle operations, including billing, collections, and payment processing. This role involves facilitating reimbursements for clinical services, submitting claims to health insurers, and following up on claims. The position requires a hands-on approach to support daily business activities in a medical environment, working under moderate supervision to ensure efficient operations.

  • Oversees scanning and indexing of all incoming correspondence to ensure accurate billing distribution.
  • Retrieves and distributes incoming customer service voicemails related to patient billing concerns.
  • Ensures all invoices are current and collaborates with Accounts Payable for resolution.
  • Identifies trends or issues with incoming correspondence to ensure proper indexing and reduce manual workflows.
  • Assists Customer Service and Cash Posting Supervisor on projects supporting the Patient Accounts Team.
  • Works closely with team members to enhance departmental effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Interacts regularly with other areas of Patient Financial Services and Revenue Cycle.
  • Assists Customer Service supervisor with data needs between departments and vendors.
  • Maintains performance standards for assigned productivity.
  • Handles office-related issues and emergencies with maintenance.
  • Oversees department charge review work queues to ensure charge accuracy.
  • Reviews documentation to capture all charges for maximum revenue.
  • Escalates billing inconsistencies to the Manager.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in an automated medical billing and collection environment or in a hospital setting with professional and technical charges.
  • Completion of a medical terminology course for understanding CPT and ICD diagnosis coding.
  • Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC).
