About the position

The OR Technician at Mark Twain Medical Center plays a crucial role in providing safe and therapeutic care to patients in the operating room. This position involves working closely with registered nurses to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of medical practice. The OR Technician is responsible for maintaining a sterile environment and managing surgical instruments, contributing to the overall efficiency and safety of surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform the nursing process in conjunction with an RN for an assigned group of patients.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate safe therapeutic care appropriate to patient age.
• Support the philosophy and objectives of the Nursing Department.
• Treat and care for patients of all ages in a supervised environment.
• Maintain knowledge of scrubbing skills and instrumentation.
• Ensure proper care and sterilization of instruments and trays.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited OR Tech program required.
• Documentation of Operating Room Technician training.
• Knowledge of scrubbing skills and instrumentation.
• Ability to read English and computer/monitor screens.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
• High level of concentration and attention to detail.
• Ability to work with a team and prioritize work.
• Current BLS certification required (must be certified through the American Heart Association).

Nice-to-haves

• One (1) year of experience as an OR Technician in an acute general hospital preferred.
