About the position

The Oracle Application and Database Administrator is responsible for managing and maintaining Sumitomo Rubber North America’s live Oracle applications and databases, along with associated technologies such as middleware and other relevant applications. This includes administering and maintaining the production environments, such as Oracle EBS, SOA, B2B, Real-Time Reporting, MWA, and other applications and databases. Key duties involve installing, configuring, and updating software; handling backup and recovery tasks; performance tuning; monitoring; code deployment; ensuring data integrity; documentation; managing service requests with Oracle support; ensuring JSOX compliance; and providing on-call support for the systems. The role also requires close collaboration with the DBA Manager, proficiency in Linux, and an understanding of SAN storage. A willingness and ability to learn and support new technologies are also essential for this position.

Responsibilities

• Manage the administration of Oracle EBS and other applications in the environment.
• Oversee the administration of Oracle databases, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
• Perform regular tuning to optimize system performance.
• Implement and manage backup and recovery processes to safeguard data integrity.
• Provide ongoing support for production environments, addressing issues promptly to minimize downtime.
• Manage the migration of code changes across different environments.
• Apply patches and upgrades to maintain system security and functionality.
• Ensure compliance with JSOX requirements.
• Monitor systems to detect and resolve issues proactively.
• Implement and manage security measures to protect data and applications.
• Perform cloning of databases and applications for testing and development purposes.
• Provide on-call support to address and resolve critical system issues outside regular business hours.

Requirements

• A minimum of ten (10) years of overall experience, including at least three (3) years of current experience as an Oracle EBS Apps DBA (preferably R12.2) in a production environment.
• An additional three (3) or more years as an Oracle Core DBA.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology from an accredited institution.
• Relevant IT certifications (Oracle, UNIX/Linux), or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to effectively perform the essential job duties.
• Proficiency in Oracle ERP (EBS R12), Oracle 19c database, Oracle 12c Application Server, and associated tools.
• Strong knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems, as well as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Experience with SQL Server and PostgreSQL is a plus.
• Highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, and well-organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent customer service skills and strong problem-solving abilities.
