About the position

The Order Picker/Loader position at Oak Farms Dairy involves performing various warehouse and inventory tasks essential for the smooth operation of the facility. The primary responsibilities include receiving, processing, storing, moving, and distributing items such as products, materials, ingredients, equipment, and supplies within a warehouse or cooler/refrigerated environment. This role requires unloading and loading trucks, truck trailers, cases, pallets, and stacks, as well as reading production schedules, customer orders, work orders, shipping orders, or requisitions to determine the items that need to be moved, gathered, or distributed. The position also involves conveying materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or other designated areas using hand trucks or electric hand trucks, and accurately recording received and shipped items to maintain inventory integrity. In addition to these tasks, the Order Picker/Loader is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working environment, adhering to clearly defined processes and tasks. The job duties include loading and unloading stacks, sorting and placing materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences, and ensuring the organization and rotation of stock in refrigerated areas. The role also requires filling requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other items and distributing them to production workers. Accuracy is crucial, as the employee must check all information for the accurate shipment of customer orders, including verifying bills of lading and inspecting products for cleanliness and condition prior to loading. The position may also involve operating a forklift, including a standing forklift, to load and unload trucks and move inventory. The Order Picker/Loader must follow all corporate and regulatory food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements, and report any quality issues to Quality Assurance personnel. This role is vital for ensuring that the warehouse operates efficiently and meets the demands of the production team and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload stacks and move items as assigned.
  • Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence.
  • Sort and store perishable goods in refrigerated area.
  • Maintain organization, rotation of stock, and neatness of all coolers and warehouse.
  • Fill requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other items and distribute to production workers.
  • Accurately pull and prepare customer orders for shipping and for efficient loading onto trucks/trailers.
  • Check all information for accurate shipment of customer orders; check bills of lading for accuracy before any product is shipped or received.
  • Check products for cleanliness and condition prior to loading.
  • Use computer to accurately scan or enter/maintain inventories and records.
  • Complete daily pick sheets, cycle counts, and production take backs.
  • Assist with monthly inventory counts, year-end inventory counts, and cycle counts as required.
  • Monitor materials, product, and equipment at each step of the process and report irregularities or concerns to supervisor.
  • Sort, bundle and fill containers or place in assembled units as needed.
  • Mark or put identifying labels on product loads.
  • Operate a forklift, including a standing forklift, to load and unload trucks and move inventory from one location to another.
  • Keep a clean and safe working environment and optimize space utilization.
  • Follow all DFA GMP's and work in a manner consistent with all corporate and regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.
  • Inform QA personnel of any quality issues.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 to 2 years of warehouse, distribution, production, or related experience.
  • Certification and/or License - may require forklift, walk behind jack, or other related work certifications.
  • Able to work in a team environment and contribute to the overall success of the warehouse/cooler team.
  • Able to perform accurate basic math computations and inventory counts.
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing (including legible writing).
  • Able to perform routine machine adjustments.
  • Able to adapt to changing situations and perform tasks as assigned.
  • Able to follow directions.
  • Able to work with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Able to perform tasks and duties without constant supervision.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
