About the position

The Organizational Storyteller and Content Curator, also known as the Communications Director, is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive branding and coordinated content strategies across various platforms. This role aims to mobilize supporters, enhance organizational visibility, and promote programs through strategic marketing and communications plans. The position requires collaboration with the Executive Director and Community Builders to achieve community, policy, and fundraising objectives, and it involves a mix of in-office and remote work.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, create, and upload original content for social media, website, action alerts, and email campaigns that aligns with ACT 4 SA's voice and style.
  • Support the ACT 4 SA team with organizational messaging and visual aids, and manage social media day-to-day activities.
  • Update the website with new content such as press releases and job postings.
  • Develop press releases, statements, and media kits, and support staff in writing op-eds and press releases.
  • Pitch to state and local media outlets and maintain updated media outreach lists.
  • Manage communication department staff, including interns, and help them create work plans and manage projects.
  • Design and edit collateral materials such as brochures and flyers.
  • Create quarterly analytics reports for website, emails, and social media platforms.
  • Assist with event promotion and provide technical support for events.
  • Collaborate with the team to maintain a communications content calendar.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3+ years experience in graphic design, marketing, or communications.
  • Experience writing and pitching op-eds and rapid response communication.
  • Proficiency in Canva and graphic design tools.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to write for various audiences.
  • Ability to develop effective work plans, organize details, and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and creative with the ability to work independently.
  • Experience in managing team members and projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of digital design and user experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of San Antonio and its political landscape.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English or other languages.
  • Experience with Act Blue, MailChimp, and WordPress.
  • Cultivated relationships with media and journalists.
  • Active on social media platforms and aware of trends.
