About the position

Presbyterian Healthcare Services is seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Orthopedic Tech to join our Orthopedic Clinic at Rust in Rio Rancho, NM. This full-time position is essential for ensuring smooth patient flow and providing high-quality care to our patients. As an Orthopedic Tech, you will be responsible for rooming patients, assisting physicians during procedures, and performing various orthopedic tasks. Your role will include applying and removing casts, setting up and removing traction, suture removal, pin extraction, and adjusting braces and external fixation devices. You will also be responsible for measuring and applying brace devices to ensure proper fit and function for our patients. In addition to your technical skills, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for patients. Your ability to communicate effectively and provide compassionate care will be crucial in helping patients feel comfortable and informed throughout their treatment process. Responsibilities

  • Provide patient flow and rooming for patients in the orthopedic clinic.
  • Assist physicians during procedures and treatments.
  • Apply and remove orthopedic casts as needed.
  • Set up and remove traction devices for patients.
  • Perform suture removal and pin extraction as required.
  • Adjust braces and external fixation devices for patient comfort and safety.
  • Measure and apply brace devices to ensure proper fit for patients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma plus specialized, short-term training in clinical medical skills.
  • Registered Orthopedic Technologist (ROT) issued by the ASOP required.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in ambulatory care is preferred.
  • BLS certification required at the time of hire.
