About the position

The Outside Income Tax Audit Representative at TaxAudit is a part-time remote role focused on providing audit representation for clients facing federal and state tax audits. The representative will manage assigned audits from start to finish, ensuring a positive experience for members while upholding the company's values of integrity and professionalism. This position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work independently, with support provided for research and travel expenses when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Handle any audit assigned by the Audit Division from assignment to resolution or reassignment internally.
• Review each audit notice and tax return prior to assignment and discuss any relevant issues.
• Assist taxpayers in gathering documents and information for their audits.
• Utilize electronic case management or case tracking systems as required by TaxAudit.
• Organize documents and prepare response packages for submission to IRS and state taxing authorities.
• Draft correspondence and discuss cases and tax law with IRS and state agents.

Requirements

• EA, CPA, or Attorney certification required.
• 3-6 years of experience representing taxpayers before the IRS and local tax agencies.
• Competence in tax law knowledge and understanding of IRS organization and audit processes.
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly regarding tax-related issues.
• Intermediate to strong computer skills.
