About the position

The Outside Parts Salesperson is responsible for generating sales of heavy-duty truck parts by developing and maintaining strong relationships with customers in the assigned territory. This role involves working directly with fleet managers, independent truck operators, and service departments to provide tailored solutions that meet their parts needs. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, possess strong knowledge of heavy-duty truck parts, and demonstrate excellent sales abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and grow an assigned customer base by consistently meeting and exceeding parts needs.
  • Identify new business opportunities within the territory and develop strategies to increase market penetration.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and ensure accurate information regarding parts availability, pricing, and lead times.
  • Regularly visit customers on-site to understand their requirements and ensure dealership preference for truck parts.
  • Process and follow through on customer orders, ensuring timely delivery and satisfaction.
  • Track sales activities, customer interactions, and order histories through CRM or other tools provided by the company.
  • Collaborate with the Parts Department, Service Department, and Truck Sales to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Address customer issues, complaints, and returns efficiently, maintaining positive client relationships.
  • Stay up-to-date on new parts, industry trends, and market conditions to provide informed recommendations to customers.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in heavy-duty truck parts sales, preferably with Peterbilt or a similar brand.
  • Strong understanding of aftermarket truck parts and their applications.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage time and workload effectively.
  • Ability to travel regularly within an assigned territory.
  • Proficiency with CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with parts sales in a dealership setting.
  • Technical knowledge of Peterbilt trucks and Paccar parts.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
