About the position

The Outside Sales Account Manager at Airgas is responsible for managing the sales process and driving profitable sales growth within an assigned territory. This role focuses on both existing and new customers, requiring the manager to meet corporate and regional sales objectives while maintaining strong customer relationships and managing accounts receivable effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the sales process and drive profitable sales growth within an assigned territory.
  • Develop and execute sales plans to service existing accounts and establish new accounts.
  • Qualify and pursue sales leads.
  • Cultivate customer relationships by understanding their business needs and establishing a consultative relationship.
  • Prepare sales proposals including pricing, credit terms, and delivery estimates.
  • Monitor industry insights and competition to inform sales strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal resources to achieve growth objectives.
  • Maintain clear communication with internal departments regarding customer successes and opportunities.
  • Submit required sales reports through SAP.
  • Manage existing customer Accounts Receivable balances.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a science, business, or related field required (or up to 4 years of additional related experience).
  • Minimum of 3 years of outside B2B sales experience with a proven track record in solution-selling.
  • Familiarity with industrial and specialty gases, and welding supply sales is a plus.
  • Knowledge of customer segmentation and prioritization of high-value customers.
  • Proven success in a consultative sales approach.
  • Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of SAP is a plus.
  • Strong PC skills including Windows, Word, Excel, and email.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with industrial and specialty gases.
  • Experience with consultative sales approach in a similar industry.
