Terminal Supply Company has been a leader in providing superior MRO parts and services for over 57 years, catering to a diverse range of industries including truck, trailer, and heavy equipment repair. The company specializes in supplying a comprehensive range of products such as terminals, wire, electrical components, fasteners, lighting, safety products, and hydraulic power fittings and hoses. Additionally, Terminal Supply Company offers custom cable and wire harness assemblies tailored for specialty vehicle manufacturers and various other clients. The Outside Sales Account Manager plays a crucial role in driving sales through direct, face-to-face interactions with both potential and existing customers. This position requires the individual to conduct sales activities in the field, managing a territory that encompasses multiple counties. The Sales Account Manager will service customers directly from a stocked vehicle, making approximately 15-20 stops daily. Daily interactions will include engaging with mechanics, shop foremen, engineers, corporate purchasing departments, and business owners. The role also involves cold calling to secure new accounts and expand the customer base within the assigned territory. The territory covered includes a wide range of areas such as Rapids, Evangeline, Calcasieu, Jefferson Davis, Acadia, St. Landry, Lafayette, St. Martin, Iberia, St. Mary, Iberville, West Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, St. Helena, Livingston, Tangipahoa, Ascension, Assumption, St. James, Lafourche, Terrebonne, St. Charles, Jefferson, St. John the Baptist, St. Tammany, and Orleans County. The role requires a proactive approach to account management, including servicing existing accounts, developing new accounts, following up on sales leads, and monitoring collections in collaboration with the Accounts Receivable Department. Participation in trade shows as determined by management is also a key responsibility. The Sales Account Manager must maintain personal inventory, ensuring all stock is rotated and kept in saleable condition.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct sales out in the field via face-to-face interactions with both potential and existing customers.
  • Service customers directly from a stocked vehicle, making 15-20 stops within the territory daily.
  • Engage in in-person interactions with mechanics, shop foremen, engineers, corporate purchasing departments, and business owners.
  • Cold call to secure new accounts within the assigned territory.
  • Develop new accounts and follow up on sales leads provided by management.
  • Monitor collections on a monthly basis with the Accounts Receivable Department.
  • Work trade shows as determined by management.
  • Maintain personal inventory, rotate all stock, and keep all stock in saleable condition.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in outside sales or account management.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with various stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field sales environment.
  • Familiarity with MRO parts and services is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the truck, trailer, or heavy equipment repair industries.
  • Knowledge of electrical components and wiring systems.
