The Outside Sales Account Manager plays a crucial role in driving sales through direct, face-to-face interactions with both potential and existing customers. This position requires the individual to conduct sales activities in the field, managing a territory that encompasses multiple counties. The Sales Account Manager will service customers directly from a stocked vehicle, making approximately 15-20 stops daily. Daily interactions will include engaging with mechanics, shop foremen, engineers, corporate purchasing departments, and business owners. The role also involves cold calling to secure new accounts and expand the customer base within the assigned territory. The territory covered includes a wide range of areas such as Rapids, Evangeline, Calcasieu, Jefferson Davis, Acadia, St. Landry, Lafayette, St. Martin, Iberia, St. Mary, Iberville, West Baton Rouge, East Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, St. Helena, Livingston, Tangipahoa, Ascension, Assumption, St. James, Lafourche, Terrebonne, St. Charles, Jefferson, St. John the Baptist, St. Tammany, and Orleans County. The role requires a proactive approach to account management, including servicing existing accounts, developing new accounts, following up on sales leads, and monitoring collections in collaboration with the Accounts Receivable Department. Participation in trade shows as determined by management is also a key responsibility. The Sales Account Manager must maintain personal inventory, ensuring all stock is rotated and kept in saleable condition.
