About the position

The Outside Sales Account Manager is responsible for managing the sales process and driving profitable sales growth within an assigned territory. This role focuses on both existing and new customers, aiming to meet corporate and regional objectives for sales growth, accounts receivable management, and customer retention. The position requires developing sales plans, cultivating customer relationships, and preparing sales proposals while maintaining communication with internal resources to achieve growth objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the sales process and drive profitable sales growth within an assigned territory.
  • Develop and execute sales plans to service existing accounts and establish new accounts.
  • Qualify and pursue sales leads.
  • Cultivate customer relationships by understanding their business needs.
  • Prepare sales proposals including pricing, credit terms, and delivery estimates.
  • Monitor industry insights and competition to gather relevant marketplace intelligence.
  • Partner with internal resources to accomplish growth objectives.
  • Maintain and submit sales reports as required by the District Manager.
  • Review and manage existing customer Accounts Receivable balances.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; or up to 4 years of additional related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years of outside business-to-business sales experience.
  • Proven experience in solution-selling concepts and managing customers in a defined sales territory.
  • Familiarity with industrial and specialty gases is a plus.
  • Proven success using a consultative sales approach to provide value to customers.
  • Working knowledge of SAP is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite applications.
  • Self-starter with a sense of urgency and ability to work independently.
  • Reliable transportation and current driver's license.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in industrial gas or welding supply sales.
  • Knowledge of macro- and microeconomic trends and industry trends.
