About the position

The Outside Sales Territory Manager is a dynamic and self-motivated sales professional responsible for the direct sale of the Company's industrial equipment products to municipalities, utilities, and contractors. This role requires extensive travel within the assigned territory, with a focus on building and maintaining customer relationships, promoting sales, and providing technical support. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude and excellent communication skills, with a proven track record in sales and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Promote equipment sales, parts, and accessories to grow market share in the territory.
  • Manage territory revenue and gross margin.
  • Perform in-field troubleshooting, assessment, and minor repairs as needed.
  • Provide in-field warranty support as necessary.
  • Prepare quotes for equipment, service, parts, and accessories.
  • Increase sales through field visits, telephone calls, and prospecting.
  • Train customers and personnel on the Company's product lines.
  • Attend and coordinate regional and national trade shows.
  • Recommend new product changes and ideas.
  • Meet sales objectives and supply monthly forecasting information.
  • Submit monthly accomplishment and weekly sales call reports.
  • Submit expense reports in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain competitive manufacturer's profiles and report on their activity monthly.
  • Ensure all business conducted is consistent with the Company's mission and ethical practices.
  • Provide sales direction and support to sales and service teams.
  • Maintain relationships with major accounts in the territory.
  • Organize a time and territorial management system for high service levels.
  • Assist marketing, customer support, and service areas in problem-solving and opportunity identification.
  • Communicate trends and issues affecting the territory.
  • Generate, monitor, track, and authorize all quotations and bids within the assigned territory.
  • Maintain test and evaluation equipment, customer samples, and demonstration products effectively.
  • Maintain account records for each account in the territory.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of sales experience selling technical products.
  • High school diploma or GED required; college experience preferred.
  • Clean driving record and ability to obtain a Class B CDL license with a tanker endorsement within 6 months (training provided).
  • Vehicle service experience, vehicle repair, fluid power, electronics, or related technologies knowledge is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and desire to learn.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High degree of initiative, enthusiasm, and motivation.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage costs and resources effectively.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated performance or desire to learn in customer and vendor support, hydraulic, mechanical, and structural repair, vehicle and equipment maintenance, system diagnostics, and product training.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with CRM software and MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, mechanical, and structural repair.
