About The Position

The Packaging Mechanic is responsible for the repair, maintenance, setup, and troubleshooting of production machinery in a manufacturing environment. This role involves assisting with tooling changeovers, reading inspection gauges, and communicating engineering issues. The Packaging Mechanic will also provide training to junior mechanics and ensure the safety and quality of production processes.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills in Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Good vision for performing visual inspections.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team, with high energy levels and under pressure.
  • Ability to discern shades of color and color differences relating to component parts.
  • Capability to lift 50 pounds occasionally throughout the shift, 1 to 2 times every 4 hours.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, and stoop continuously throughout the shift.
  • Ability to climb steps.
  • Ability to hear warning signals/verbal alerts to avoid injury during the manufacturing process.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to effectively communicate and understand relevant information.
  • Ability to read various inspection gauges.
  • Basic math and PC skills.
  • Fluency in the Airless, pump room, and production lines.
  • Must obtain a minimum of an Associate's Degree from an accredited technical program to progress to a Maintenance Mechanic Lead.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certificate or technical training required.
  • Experience with PLC troubleshooting, maintenance, vision systems, setting up machines, and pick & place.
  • Experience in set up and changeover of assembly lines, repair and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and working with electrical, packaging, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical, and production assembly lines.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and perform maintenance on production machinery.
  • Set up and troubleshoot production machinery independently.
  • Assist with parts and tooling changeovers.
  • Read inspection gauges.
  • Communicate engineering issues and create work requests.
  • Track and enter work orders via TPM EDGE.
  • Provide on-the-job training to Maintenance Mechanics Level I (C-Techs).
  • Operate a forklift and maintain necessary certification.
  • Open work orders and issue parts.
  • Clean, inspect, and lubricate high-speed equipment.
  • Rebuild machine/mechanical components.
  • Perform safety checks on production machinery and follow lockout procedures.
  • Ensure product safety and the quality of goods produced.
  • Print and interpret production schedules.
  • Fill in as Team Lead when necessary.
  • Complete and email production logs as required.
  • Actively participate in safety training and mechanical procedures.
