About the position

The Attorney General's Office is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal 1 to join the Regional Services Division in Everett, Washington. This full-time position plays a crucial role in supporting Assistant Attorneys General in various legal matters, particularly focusing on juvenile court dependency and termination cases. As a Paralegal 1, you will be responsible for providing essential litigation support, which includes preparing for trials, analyzing facts, composing legal documents and pleadings, scheduling and interviewing witnesses, and conducting legal research. You will also be tasked with coordinating the preparation for litigation, tracking the status of cases from summons to trial, and drafting legal notices. This position requires a strong understanding of court rules related to legal practice, subject matter, and court filing procedures in civil and appellate matters. The Regional Services Division serves as the face of the Attorney General's Office in communities across Washington State, providing a wide range of legal services to various client agencies, including the Department of Children, Youth and Families, Department of Labor and Industries, and local educational institutions. Responsibilities

  • Provide critical support for Assistant Attorneys General in litigation of state matters.
  • Prepare for trial by analyzing facts and composing legal documents and pleadings.
  • Schedule and interview witnesses as needed for cases.
  • Research legal issues and evaluate the facts of cases to assist in legal proceedings.
  • Coordinate the preparation for litigation and track the status of cases from summons to trial.
  • Draft legal notices and other necessary documentation.

Requirements

  • Combination of three years of experience through paralegal certification, two-year paralegal degree, and/or paraprofessional experience in support of an attorney.
  • Experience as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Valid Paralegal Certificate certification is a plus.
  • Experience in juvenile court dependency and termination cases is beneficial.
