About the position

Blank Rome is seeking an independent, personable, and detailed Paralegal proficient in the practice of matrimonial and family law to work with high-profile individuals, athletes, and celebrities on highly confidential matters. In this role, the Paralegal would provide support to attorneys in the firm's nationally recognized Matrimonial and Family law practice on all matrimonial matters from commencement to resolution. This position is essential in ensuring that the legal processes are handled efficiently and with the utmost professionalism, given the sensitive nature of the clientele involved. The Paralegal will assist attorneys in the review and drafting of various legal documents, with a particular emphasis on the New York and Florida practices. Responsibilities will include conducting factual investigations related to legal matters, drafting pleadings pertinent to Florida matrimonial matters, and performing cite checking, discovery, and trial preparations. The role also involves assisting with the review and organization of mandatory disclosures and financial discovery, drafting Net Worth Statements and Financial Affidavits, and conducting legal and factual research to prepare written material on research results. Additionally, the Paralegal will prepare subpoenas, motions to compel, and assist with preparation for depositions, while also being open to performing other responsibilities as assigned. This position has a hybrid working arrangement, requiring candidates to live within commuting distance of the New York office to be on-site three days per week. The Paralegal will report to the Director of Paralegal Services and is expected to work additional hours as needed to fulfill job requirements. Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys in the review and drafting of various legal documents with an emphasis on the New York practice, as well as the Florida practice.
  • Conduct factual investigations related to legal matters.
  • Draft pleadings pertinent to Florida matrimonial matters.
  • Perform cite checking, discovery, and trial preparations and attend trials.
  • Assist with the review and organization of mandatory disclosures and financial discovery.
  • Draft Net Worth Statements and Financial Affidavits.
  • Conduct legal and factual research and prepare written material on research results.
  • Prepare subpoenas, motions to compel, and assist with preparation for depositions.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Work additional hours as needed to fulfill job requirements.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of paralegal experience, specifically with matrimonial/family law.
  • Experience with New York State matrimonial and family law.
  • Experience with Florida State matrimonial and family law is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree, paralegal certification, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Experience in a legal environment or professional services firm required.
  • Knowledge of the family law litigation process from start to finish.
  • Ability to provide top-notch, white glove client service in a heavily client-facing role with high wealth, well-known individuals, athletes, and celebrities.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to develop positive working relationships (in-person and virtually).
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize complex or diverse information.
  • Ability to collect and research data.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with effective organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
