About the position

The Paramedic or Nurse position at CSL Plasma is a critical role responsible for evaluating donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures. This includes the administration and supervision of approved immunizations, excluding red blood cell immunizations. The individual in this role will provide limited emergency medical care to both donors and staff, which encompasses the administration of medication or treatments in accordance with their licensure or certification. The position is essential in ensuring the safety and well-being of donors during the plasma donation process. In this role, you will be expected to promote positive customer relations with all donors, conducting confidential and effective interviews to gather necessary information regarding their suitability to donate plasma. You will work closely with the Center Medical Director and/or Center Physician to respond to medically related inquiries from staff, providing guidance on donor suitability and other medical issues. Additionally, you will perform medical history reviews and health assessments on donors, assessing the results of donor screening and laboratory tests to determine both initial and ongoing donor suitability. The position also involves notifying and counseling donors regarding reactive test results and referring them to community facilities for follow-up and counseling. You will explain informed consent to applicants, detailing procedures, potential hazards, and the immunization schedule, ensuring that donors have the opportunity to refuse participation. In the event of medical emergencies at the center, you will provide routine care as outlined in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and escalate situations to the Center Physician or local medical service providers as necessary. Maintaining accurate records in the electronic donor information management system is crucial, as is ensuring a clean and efficient work environment. You will also be responsible for following all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures, promoting safety in all actions. The role may require cross-training in other areas to meet business needs, and bilingual skills may be necessary at the organization's discretion. Other job-related duties may be assigned as needed.
