About the position

Under general direction, a Parks Supervisor II, plans, schedules, and coordinates assigned programs of the Public Works and Parks, After School, Recreation & Community Services (PARCS) Departments, including the maintenance and repair of parks, landscaped areas, and recreation facilities. Parks, trails, urban forestry, median islands and buffers provide a good source of beautification to the city. It is Landscape Maintenance's responsibility to make sure these areas stay clean and continue to improve the image of the City of Fresno. The current vacancy exists in the Public Works Department, Landscape Maintenance Division. Immediate and future vacancies will be filled from this eligible list for a period of three (3) months from the date the eligible list is created, with the option of extending that period at the City's discretion.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate assigned programs of the Public Works and Parks Departments.
  • Oversee maintenance and repair of parks, landscaped areas, and recreation facilities.
  • Ensure cleanliness and beautification of parks, trails, urban forestry, and other landscaped areas.

Requirements

  • Three years of progressively responsible supervisory experience in the maintenance of landscape areas and/or commercial buildings.
  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Science, Administration, Management, or Engineering with a focus on Horticulture, Landscaping, Recreation Agriculture, or a closely related field.
  • Possession of a valid Class C California Drivers License.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification as an arborist by the International Society of Arboriculture.
