About the position

The Part 91 Maintenance & Operational Support Pilot - Rotor Wing will be responsible for performing post maintenance and preservation ground runs within the designated Northeast region, which includes states such as Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. This role is critical in ensuring that aircraft and weather conditions are airworthy for conducting post maintenance operational check flights and repositioning ferry flights. The pilot will also be responsible for briefing and supervising all associated personnel in aircraft operations as applicable, ensuring compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) and a thorough understanding of Air Methods policies and procedures. In this position, the pilot will operate all assigned aircraft in a safe and legal manner at all times, which is paramount to the role. Essential functions include performing aircraft preservation ground runs, post maintenance ground runs, and conducting pre-flight checks to verify the aircraft's airworthiness. The pilot will perform a complete walk-around of the aircraft prior to entering the cockpit for flight and upon completion of each flight. Additionally, the pilot will conduct post maintenance test flights for Return To Service (RTS) per Maintenance Operations Control (MOC) and Regulatory Operations Control (ROC) requirements, and ferry aircraft as directed under Part 91 Rules, VFR only. The pilot will hold final authority regarding the operations of the aircraft and the safety of crew, passengers, cargo, and equipment, and will be responsible for the completion of required documentation. The ability to conduct detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards is also essential for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Operates all assigned aircraft in a safe and legal manner at all times (100%).
  • Perform Aircraft preservation ground runs.
  • Perform Aircraft post maintenance ground runs.
  • Completes pre-flight before every flight verifying the aircraft is in an airworthy condition.
  • Perform a complete walk around of the aircraft prior to entering the cockpit for flight and upon completion of each flight.
  • Perform Aircraft post maintenance test flights for RTS (Return To Service) per MOC/ ROC requirements.
  • Ferry aircraft as directed under Part 91 Rules, VFR only.
  • Final authority with regard to operations of aircraft and for the safety of crew, passengers, cargo and equipment.
  • Responsible for completion of required documentation.
  • Able to conduct detailed flight planning with little notice to exacting standards.

Requirements

  • Visual Flight Requirements (VFR)
  • 1000-1500 hours PIC in Rotor Wing (Helicopter category)
  • 500 hours of Rotor Wing turbine time
  • 150 hours of cross-country flight time, at least 75 hours of which were at night
  • 50 hours total time, if rated, of actual or hood instrument time in flight and in category (simulator time does not count)
  • Valid & Current Helicopter Commercial License
  • Valid & Current Class I or II flight physical completed with medical certificate obtained
  • Valid & Current Helicopter Instrument rating preferred
  • Valid & Current Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License preferred
  • MOC / ROC qualified in aircraft types (preferred)
  • Capable of being AMC-qualified in multiple aircrafts (AS350, B407, B429, EC130, EC135, EC145)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
  • 2-5 years of related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred)

  • Capable of being AMC-qualified in multiple aircrafts (AS350, B407, B429, EC130, EC135, EC145)
