About the position

The Part-Time Instructor for Civil Engineering Technology at Central Piedmont Community College is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in the field of civil engineering. The instructor will engage students through effective teaching strategies, evaluate student performance, and contribute to the development of the curriculum while supporting the college's mission and goals.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of civil engineering technology and related fields.
• Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning.
• Employ appropriate teaching strategies to communicate subject matter effectively.
• Modify instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.
• Utilize instructional technology to enhance the educational experience.
• Encourage the development of communication and higher-order thinking skills in students.
• Contribute to the selection and development of instructional materials.
• Develop and update course syllabi in a timely manner.
• Establish meaningful learning outcomes for courses and evaluate student progress.
• Maintain accurate records of student performance and submit grades promptly.
• Teach classes as assigned in a multi-campus environment and maintain regular office hours for student advisement.
• Participate in college, division, and program activities, including committee work and graduation ceremonies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field.
• Demonstrated mastery of subject matter in civil engineering technology.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field.
• Teaching experience in a community college or university setting.
• Five years of industry experience.
