About the position

Rutgers University-New Brunswick is seeking a part-time instructor for the Spring 2024 semester to teach a course on Modern and Contemporary Visual Culture in the Islamic World. This course will explore the modern and contemporary histories of visual culture, including architecture, painting, sculpture, photography, and cinema, with a special focus on the Arabic, Turkish, and Persian spheres.

Responsibilities

• Teach the course Modern and Contemporary Visual Culture in the Islamic World (01:082:328).
• Prepare and submit syllabi and course materials.
• Attend orientations and respond to student emails.
• Submit assessments and final grades as per contract requirements.

Requirements

• PhD in Art History or a related field.
• PhD students in the post-qualifying exam stage are encouraged to apply.
• Exceptional candidates with an MA may be considered.

Nice-to-haves

• Teaching experience.
• Familiarity with Canvas, Rutgers' Learning Management Software.
