About the position

The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is seeking a Partnership Manager who will play a pivotal role in leading the internal planning and external strategic engagement with targeted multi- and bi-lateral organizations, particularly focusing on the Global Environment Facility (GEF). This position is crucial for identifying, cultivating, and aligning public funding opportunities through various activities such as internal TNC engagement, meetings, trips, and other outreach efforts. The Partnership Manager will be responsible for managing the outreach to and engagement with funding agencies, collaborating closely with conservation teams, government relations, and operations support staff to ensure effective communication and alignment of goals. In this role, the Partnership Manager will engage in a variety of activities that include providing complex conservation and financial program information to inform TNC's public funding pipeline and financial planning. They will utilize the Conservancy's donor database to regularly update partner and donor information, produce reports, perform analyses, and track and cultivate public partners. A deep understanding of the influencing factors on public partners and the complex types of assets that may be used for funding is essential, as the Manager will apply this knowledge in their interactions with partners and funding opportunities. Additionally, they will capitalize on matching gift opportunities and assist in developing materials for private donors to leverage the impact of public investments. This position is negotiable anywhere TNC is authorized to conduct business, allowing for flexibility in work location. The Partnership Manager will be integral to TNC's mission of addressing climate change, conserving lands, waters, and oceans, and promoting sustainable food and water practices. The work will directly impact TNC's success in achieving transformative conservation outcomes and shaping government policies that benefit both people and nature.

Responsibilities

  • Lead internal planning and external strategic engagement with targeted multi- and bi-lateral organizations, especially GEF.
  • Identify, cultivate, and align public funding opportunities through internal TNC engagement, meetings, and trips.
  • Manage outreach to and engagement with funding agencies in collaboration with conservation and government relations teams.
  • Provide complex conservation and financial program information to inform TNC's public funding pipeline and financial planning.
  • Utilize the Conservancy's donor database to update partner and donor information, produce reports, perform analysis, and track public partners.
  • Understand influencing factors on public partners and the types of assets used for funding.
  • Capitalize on matching gift opportunities and develop materials for private donors to leverage public investment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 6 years related experience or an equivalent combination.
  • Experience building relationships with donors, volunteers, and senior staff.
  • Experience managing and tracking multiple prospects and donors.
  • Experience working with teams across the organization.
  • Experience, coursework, or other training in fundraising principles and practices.
  • Government agency or public fundraising experience.
  • Supervisory experience including setting objectives and managing performance, including conflict resolution.
