About the position

The Parts Specialist at O'Reilly Auto Parts is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service to both retail and installer customers. This role supports store management in various tasks and ensures that customers receive assistance in selecting merchandise, processing transactions, and resolving complaints. The position also involves maintaining operational standards and performing in-store services as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and promote all company customer service programs.
  • Promptly greet retail/walk-in customers and assist them in their selection of merchandise.
  • Assist managers and/or installer service specialists in serving professional customers as needed.
  • Complete assigned company training relevant to the position.
  • Provide excellent service to customers calling the store by answering calls, looking up parts, quoting prices, and recommending items.
  • Maintain and secure the cash drawer, process transactions accurately, and handle exchanges and returns.
  • Address and resolve customer complaints in a friendly manner.
  • Assist with daily operational tasks including freight receiving, stocking shelves, and cleaning.
  • Prepare merchandise returns to be shipped to the distribution center and assist with inventory counts.
  • Operate brake lathe and other store test equipment after training is completed.
  • Perform various in-store services for customers where allowed by law.
  • Occasionally drive a delivery vehicle to make deliveries when needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in retail or customer service is preferred.
  • Basic automotive knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to operate store test equipment after training.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in the automotive parts industry.
  • Familiarity with cash handling procedures.
