The Patient Care Associate (PCA) position at Massachusetts General Hospital is a vital role within the White 8 adult inpatient unit, which consists of twenty-six beds dedicated to providing care for patients with acute and complex medical issues. This unit serves a diverse patient population, reflecting various cultural backgrounds and geographic areas. Patients are typically admitted from the Emergency Department or transferred from intensive care units, necessitating a high level of clinical expertise and compassionate care from the nursing staff. The PCA will work under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) and will be an integral part of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team, assisting in clinical support functions that promote a safe and compassionate patient care environment. The PCA will be responsible for assisting patients with their daily living needs, monitoring and reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs. This role requires timely responses to patient requests while safeguarding patient confidentiality and ensuring patient safety. Effective communication is essential, and the PCA must always interact with patients and colleagues in a respectful manner. The position is full-time, with evening shifts from 3 PM to 11 PM, and includes a rotational schedule for weekends and holidays. The PCA will be expected to provide high-quality care and support to patients, contributing to the overall mission of Massachusetts General Hospital to deliver exceptional healthcare services.   • Licensed, certified, or enrolled student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program at the time of hire
  • Candidate enrolled in a Nursing, Pre-Med, PA undergraduate program with at least one semester of patient care rotations completed at the time of hire
