About the position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT) role at Intermountain Health involves providing essential care to patients in an inpatient hospice setting. This full-time position requires a commitment to patient-centered care, focusing on both acute and chronic patient needs while adhering to the organization's values of Integrity, Trust, Excellence, Accountability, and Mutual Respect. The PCT will work three 12-hour shifts during the day, including weekends and holiday rotations, to support end-of-life patients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to patient care needs by answering call lights and assisting with hygiene care.
  • Obtain and document vital signs and communicate effectively with the care team.
  • Perform 12-lead EKG duties as trained and competent.
  • Apply and document restraints as directed by the RN or physician.
  • Perform wound care, stoma care, and specimen collection.
  • Manage equipment and tube care, including JPs, hemovacs, and nasogastric tubes.
  • Assist with patient transfers, admissions, and discharges following safe patient handling principles.
  • Order and maintain office and patient care supplies.
  • Perform unit secretary duties, including maintaining patient charts and responding to phone calls.
  • Assist physicians and RNs as directed.
  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCL Health and adhere to service behavior standards.
  • Demonstrate and adhere to infection prevention standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including floating to other departments as needed.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an accredited nursing assistant training program.
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the state of practice.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification upon hire or obtained within 60 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1+ years of previous experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends as required.
