About The Position

Emory Healthcare is seeking a Patient Care Technician for Emory Johns Creek Hospital. This position is full-time, requiring 36 hours per week, with shifts from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Candidates will work every other weekend and rotating holidays. The salary range for this position is $15.75 to $24.96 per hour. The Patient Care Technician will be responsible for providing quality patient care and ensuring the safety of all patients. This includes performing assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
  • One year of direct patient care experience, or successful completion of a nursing assistant training course, or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification through the state of Georgia, or completion of the ENMT - Basic Certification, or currently enrolled in a nursing program with completion of 2 clinical rotations.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification by the State of Georgia as a Certified Nursing Assistant or patient care technician program preferred.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Registered Nurse program and have completed two clinical semesters.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned patient care and observation duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse and/or LPN.
  • Communicate with patients, families, and members of the patient care team.
  • Assist in emergency situations as directed by an RN/LPN.
  • Ensure prescribed measures related to hygiene, comfort, and rest are provided.
  • Comply with Standard Precautions guidelines, Infection Control procedures, and safety standards.
  • Assist in the use of various medical equipment and devices.
  • Record patient intake and output accurately.
  • Transport patients and patient specimens throughout the hospital as needed.
  • Contribute to the completion of patient admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
  • Participate in unit-based and system-wide Performance Improvement programs.
