About the position

DaVita is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) who is eager to make a significant impact in the lives of patients dealing with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease in an outpatient dialysis center. This role is not just a job; it is an opportunity to give life and provide compassionate care to those in need. As a PCT, you will be part of a holistic team that includes nurses, dietitians, social workers, and other experienced technicians, all working together to ensure the best possible care for our patients. You will receive extensive paid training to equip you with the necessary skills to perform your duties effectively. Once training is completed, you will engage in direct patient care, spending the majority of your day providing safe, comfortable, and hygienic dialysis treatment. Responsibilities

  • Provide direct one-on-one patient care during dialysis treatment.
  • Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis treatment, including measuring and recording vital statistics and patient observations.
  • Set up hemodialysis machines and ensure they are functioning properly.
  • Educate patients on kidney dialysis-related topics and build long-term relationships with them.
  • Work collaboratively with a cross-functional team of clinicians, including nurses, dietitians, and social workers, under the supervision of a registered nurse.

Requirements

  • Desire to enter the health care field and care for others in need.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Comfortable working around blood and needles.
  • Ability to mix acid or bicarb as required for dialysis treatment.
  • Physical and mental ability to work long hours, including shifts that may exceed 12 hours.
  • Willingness to train and work across multiple clinics as needed.
  • Health care experience is a plus, including certifications such as BONENT Certified, Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Phlebotomy certification.
